History

CATE is a Presbyterian camp operated by the churches of Mission at the Eastward since its founding in 1960 by the visionary Rev. Bill Burger. That early 'can do' spirit and abiding camper loyalty are reflected in the tenacious support, stewardship, and hands on volunteerism that have brought us to where we are today.

About CATE

Camp at the Eastward provides both week-long residential camp (grades 3-12) and day camp for younger campers during our Summer Camp season. In addition we have specialty camps and rent out our unique facilities for groups and organizations. Our summer campers come from a variety of backgrounds 'where everyone belongs' and where, for some, 'Camp is their Bible.' Our staff and directors are ofter camp alumni, affiliated with a MATE church, or a member of the MATE pastoral staff.
