INDUSTRY, ME—Sparrow's Nest Theater opens its 2014 Season with the beloved classic Charlotte's Web, directed by Diane Leeman with costumes by Celina Ellis. The play is adapted by Joseph Robinette and based on the book by E.B. White.
A beautiful, knowing play about friendship, Charlotte's Web tells the story of Wilbur (Sol LaBelle), the irresistible young pig who desperately wants to avoid the butcher; Fern, (Mikayla Goodwin), a girl who understands what animals say to each other; Templeton (Sierra Steinhouser), the gluttonous rat who can occasionally be talked into a good deed and the extraordinary spider, Charlotte (Rebekah Sparks), who proves to be "a true friend and a good writer."
The full cast includes Isabelle Rogers, Phoebe Rogers, Amy Washburn, Emma Lancaster, Julianne Sparks, Mary Rogers, Paul Rogers ,Connor Falardeau, Sheila Gravelle as Edith Zuckerman, Nate Kiger, Marshall Smith, Malorie Bayliss, Dayla Davis, Celina Ellis, Maya Labelle, Chloe Roberts, Ariya Gravelle, Rebecca Essman, Grace Willingham, Mia Willingham and Maddy Porter
Based in Industry, Sparrow's Nest Theater, aims to support and foster a creative arts community. Producing plays, offering arts classes and a monthly music praise worship are some of the activities. Sparrow's Nest is a partnership between Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, Delaware and United in Christ Presbyterian Church in Starks. The 2014 theater season is funded, in part, through grants from the Presbytery of Northern New England and Mission at the Eastward.
